Over a quarter of a century, Prospect has established itself as Britain’s home for thoughtful, long-form journalism. It has given the sharpest thinkers and writers—from Nobel laureates to sparkling critics—the space and time to get their insights across to the intelligent reader. And in the last three years, Prospect’s writing and editing has picked up a clutch of awards, including the prestigious Orwell prize.

Prospect is mid-way through an exciting period of change. Online readership has doubled over the last 3 years, and to accelerate this the title has just launched a brand new website, and also refreshed its print product. It now seeks a new Editor to lead the next phase of growth, who is ready to engage with global themes—from the health of liberal democracy to appraising contemporary society and literature. The new Editor will need creative ideas for how to raise the magazine’s profile and build its subscriber base, as well as for continuing to strengthen its digital incarnation.

Candidates from the English-speaking world outside the UK will be welcomed just as warmly as British journalists. The ideal candidate will need: the acumen to engage with world-class writers and thinkers from across the intellectual horizon; the ability to lead and inspire Prospect’s small team of staff; and, readiness to represent the magazine on media of every sort. They will have expertise in one or more of the title’s major themes—domestic politics, international relations, culture and economics. Specific experience in commissioning big-name writers or editing long-form essays will be an advantage.

To apply, send a CV and single-page covering letter by 31st May to the publisher Clive Cowdery via Jessica.Happ@resolution.co.uk
